What Does An AC Unit Need?
In the early stages of AC installation, you’ll have to figure out where you want the unit to be installed in. This is something that our HVAC technicians can help you figure out, but if you’d like to scan the space for yourself there are some things you want to look out for.
Indoor vs. Outdoor AC Installation
When we’re installing an indoor AC unit like a ductless mini split, you’ll need to find a wall where you’ll have clear access to the louvers and the filters. In general, it’s best to have them mounted roughly eight to ten feet above the floor. You’ll also want to consider where the unit can vent to on the exterior of the home or office space.
For an outdoor traditional AC unit, you want it placed in an accessible area where it can safely release heat. It should be away from direct sunlight, and it should have a foot of free space from the sides and back, as well as two feet of space from the front fan.
And whichever unit you choose, you’ll need to make sure you’re capable of handling the amount of power that an AC unit uses. On average, for a traditional AC unit, you’ll need 3,000 to 5,000 watts of power per hour, which really adds up in the hotter season. You’ll likely need the help of a circuit breaker.
Fortunately, at Service Legends, our team members are highly trained and can walk you through the best ways to install your new unit.
It’s natural for any appliance to wear out over time over time. We’re always here for AC maintenance and repair. No matter what’s wrong with your system, we’re only a call away.
If your unit has started to leak, for instance, we can examine your system to see whether you might be dealing with a broken condensate pump. We can also check the drainage to see if it may be clogged. With a quick AC repair, we can prevent the built-up of water that can damage your AC in the long-run.
